Energy savings and unmatched mixing performance

In this edition of near we share with you two of our mixing technologies that will increase your capacity, thus delivering greater productivity, higher product quality and improved utilization of your process plant’s resources.

Unmatched mixing performance
Watch how the Alfa Laval Rotary Jet Mixer effectively handles liquid and powder mixing, gas dispersion and Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) while reducing time, energy and costs.

In many applications the Alfa Laval Rotary Jet Mixer provides a faster and more efficient mixing than conventional methods. It combines high blending precision with minimized mixing times and up to 50% reduction in energy requirements. Based on rotary jet head technology, it can be used in tanks between 100 and 800,000 liters in size.

Equipped with two or four nozzles, the Rotary Jet Mixer is positioned below liquid level in the tank. Liquid is withdrawn from the tank outlet by a pump and circulated via an external loop to the mixer. It helps reduce operating expenses while achieving fast and efficient mixing. A single Rotary Jet Mixer can handle liquid mixing, gas dispersion and powder dispersion applications – plus tank cleaning – without requiring separate equipment for each process, thereby delivering significant savings.
Energy efficient powder mixing
Mixing and pumping both wet and dry ingredients into a homogenous blend can - depending on viscosity - require up to four separate electric motors, consuming a lot of energy.

The Alfa Laval Hybrid Powder Mixer can accomplish the same using only a single motor drive providing up to 50% energy savings, including efficient mixing in the associated production vessel, when used in combination with the Alfa Laval Rotary Jet Mixer.

The Hybrid Powder Mixer combines pump and powder dissolving technologies in a single versatile unit. It is the only hygienic powder mixer capable of drawing powder into the unit while simultaneously pumping the resulting process liquid at pressures up to 4 bar, making the need for a separate discharge pump obsolete. It effectively pre-blends the powder and liquid before the mixture enters the high-shear stage, which contributes to faster and more effective dissolution.

While other inline powder mixers create mechanical shear in a small area, the Hybrid Powder Mixer creates high dynamic shear in several different steps, which require less energy to ensure complete dissolution of the powder. The technology can also be used as part of an efficient Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) system, providing the needed pressure (up to 4 bars) to run the installed cleaning equipment.
